The OSRAM ET-PARROT 105/220-240 is an electronic transformer that powers your extra-low-voltage halogen lamps at 12 V: G4 and GY6.35 capsules, MR16 GU5.3 or AR111 G53 spots. It takes a total load of 35 to 105 VA — several spots on one circuit, for example.
Compact and light, it replaces bulky magnetic transformers: instant start, silent operation, and dimmable on both leading-edge and trailing-edge phase-cut dimmers. Galvanic isolation between primary and secondary guarantees SELV safety.
Its electronic protections against short circuit, overload and overtemperature reset automatically: the transformer restarts by itself once the fault is cleared. Keep to the 35 VA minimum load for stable operation.
Equivalents from other brands — with matching characteristics (same power, same range, same mounting), the job is done by PHILIPS ET-E, Tridonic TE and Vossloh-Schwabe ETX. ⚠️ Always check overall size, terminals and starting method before replacing control gear in an existing luminaire: these differ between brands.

Is it dimmer-compatible?
Yes: it dims on phase-cut dimmers, leading edge as well as trailing edge. The halogen light dims smoothly, turning warmer as it goes down.
What is the minimum load?
35 VA. Below that, the transformer may not start or the lamp may flicker. Add up the wattages of the connected lamps to stay between 35 and 105 VA.
Can I connect 12 V LEDs?
Only if the total load reaches the 35 VA minimum — rarely the case with low-draw LEDs. To switch to LED, a dedicated 12 V LED driver is the better choice.
