It runs on suitable discharge control gear (ballast + ignitor) matched exactly to its wattage (35 W) and type: it never connects directly to the mains. Its outer envelope screens UV (UVC), concentrating light into a 30° beam. Warm-up takes a few minutes; after switch-off, let it cool before restrike.
