A flame-effect solar torch
This Modee solar LED light stands 43 cm tall, stake included. Its light flickers like a real flame: planted in twos or threes along a path or around a terrace, these torches give the illusion of a torchlit way, with no fire or smoke.
How it works
It needs no socket and no wiring. By day its solar panel recharges the battery; in the evening it switches on by itself as the light fades. The battery is a rechargeable AA Ni-MH cell, included: it is easy to replace once it wears out.
What kind of light?
Its amber glow imitates a small flame: a lively, very warm light.
Positioning
The more direct sun the panel gets, the longer it stays lit. Avoid the foot of a hedge or a north-facing wall, and expect a shorter runtime in winter. Protected against rain and splashing water (IP44), it can stay outdoors all season. A switch lets you turn it off, for winter storage for example.
