The GE Polylux XL F36W 840 fluorescent tube is a high-quality T8 triphosphor lamp that delivers cool white light at 4 000 K with excellent colour rendering (CRI 85). Its 3 350 lumens for 36 W provide clear, even light — a perfect like-for-like replacement for an existing tube.

Thanks to its triphosphor coating it keeps a high output throughout its life (better lumen maintenance than standard halophosphate tubes) and reaches 15,000 hours. G13 base, Ø26 mm (T8) diameter, 1200 mm (4 ft) length: it fits existing T8 fittings and battens, on both wire-wound ballasts (with starter) and electronic ballasts.

Is this tube compatible with my fitting?

Yes, if it is a T8 fitting with a G13 base of the same length (1200 mm (4 ft)) and wattage (36 W). The Polylux XL runs on both wire-wound ballasts (with a starter) and high-frequency electronic ballasts.

What does the 840 code mean?

The first digit (8) indicates a CRI of 80 to 89; the next two give the colour temperature: 840 = 4 000 K, i.e. cool white light.

Can it replace an old "industrial white" tube?

Yes. At equal wattage and length, the Polylux XL triphosphor directly replaces older halophosphate tubes, with far better colour rendering and a more stable output over time.

How is this tube recycled?

Like all fluorescent tubes, it contains a small amount of mercury: do not dispose of it with household waste. Take it to a WEEE collection point (recycling centre or store).
