The OSRAM PURITEC HNS UV-C lamp rated 15 W emits germicidal radiation at 253.7 nm, the wavelength that neutralises the DNA of bacteria, viruses, moulds and algae. Its special glass blocks the 185 nm line: it disinfects without producing ozone.

It fits a G13 base and runs on a standard fluorescent ballast of the same wattage — a direct replacement in your steriliser, purifier or clarifier, with the unit powered off. Check the tube length: 436 mm.

Can I handle the lamp with bare hands?

No: always handle it with a clean soft cloth (or the packaging film). Fingerprints leave grease on the quartz that blocks UV-C radiation and creates hot spots — germicidal efficacy and lamp life drop sharply. If you have touched it, clean it with alcohol before use.

Is UV-C radiation dangerous?

Yes: UV-C burns eyes and skin within seconds. Use this lamp ONLY inside a closed device (steriliser, clarifier, duct) and never look at the lit tube. Always switch off the power before any intervention.

When should it be replaced?

After about 9000 hours (≈1 year of continuous use). UV-C output fades over time: the lamp may still glow blue while its germicidal power has become insufficient. Replace it yearly to guarantee disinfection.
